I’m a journalist who served as travel editor at The Wall Street Journal and news director at Travel + Leisure. But that’s far from the whole story.

I started my career at a small newspaper in Alabama, the Anniston Star, where I covered industrial pollution and chemical weapons stockpiles. It was an enormous responsibility that drove home the importance of good reporting.

Since then I've developed deep experience in print and digital media. I’ve been a business editor at the New York Post, written about weddings for Marie Claire, covered real estate for Forbes. I co-founded and ran a startup that dominated the Great Recession (read the New York Times coverage) and helped launch or overhaul several other online properties.

I’m a native New Yorker. My first international trip was in 1984, when my family took me out of school to spend three months exploring China. I once drove my ’96 Honda Civic around a NASCAR track. A hobbyist jeweler, I made my wedding band (and my husband’s). And yes, I'm pregnant in this picture—but now my wonderful husband and I have two small children who are excellent travelers.
